At least 10 people deceased and 15 were injured in a road accident that occurred this Wednesday on a highway in the municipality of Bajos de Haina, about twenty kilometers from Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, the director of Dominican Civil Defense informed EFE , Juan Salas.

Salas assured that the body of a woman was found among the rubble, a few hours after the official himself announced that the number of deaths rose to nine, following the death of two people admitted to the centers of health.

The accident occurred in the morning on a section of the Sánchez highway, belonging to the Quita Sueño sector, in Bajos de Haina, when a passenger bus and an articulated truck collided head-on and then rushed in a ravine, the truck having fallen on top of the road, bus.

Sources from the 911 emergency service told EFE that these are preliminary figures, since an unknown number of travelers are believed to have been stuck on the bus.

According to data provided by those present at the scene, at least thirty passengers were traveling on board the damaged bus.

Civil Defense teams, firefighters, the National Police and the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transport continue to work in the area, among other services.
