Police took rapper Killer Mike away in handcuffs from the Grammy Awards party Sunday night after he won three of the music industry’s biggest awards for rap music, witnesses said. The Los Angeles Police Department has not provided any statement on the matter, and two press officers on duty said they had no information. A video posted on social media showed police escorting Killer Mike, his hands handcuffed behind his back, through the lobby of the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The Hollywood Reporter, citing a stadium security official, reported that Killer Mike was arrested for an unspecified offense unrelated to the Grammy Awards. Earlier in the day, Killer Mike and his collaborators won Grammys for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers” and Best Rap Album for “Michael.” Born Michael Render, Killer Mike is also known for his social activism on issues such as racism and police brutality. His agent and publicists did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
